Is this actually happening?

t minus 7... In only one week we will have departed. It's nice to see some people are following the blog already. I promise it will become more interesting very soon. Denielle and I have begun to pack up the apartment, and have a tidy little pile of gear sitting in the living room that will become our life for the next 6 months. Yesterday I bought some Mexican insurance, no, not immodium, but Mexican car insurance. One of the last few pieces of the puzzle. We are moving out of our apartment this weekend, spending a couple days with some family, and then on to the you ess of eh.

Right now the plans are starting to become a little more concrete. We hope to get to Utah the first day, and then down to the Grand Canyon for a couple of days. The car will get pimped with some new window tinting to keep the temperatures down and prying eyes away. Then it's across the border at Nogales, and quickly down to Mazatlan. From there, perhaps a week in Platanitos where there is a secluded turtle beach and a very fun river mouth break to get the sea legs back. Depending on how it is there, we'll either stay for a few days, or move on down south of Party Vallarta.

I guess we've talked a bit about where we're going to be at Christmas, and the thinking right now is to zip through Guatamala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, and be in Costa Rica. We'll probably spend some more time in Nicaragua on the way back up towards the end of our trip. But that's it for now. Stay tuned. I mounted two brackets for the waterproof video camera on the surfboards, so some mediocre surfing and or near drowning videos could be uploaded within a couple of weeks.
